Listed on the National Register of
Historic Places, Bass Lofts are creatively crafted apartment
homes carved into a 1920’s high school. Situated in lively
Little 5 Points, each loft embraces architectural details
respecting the integrity of the former two school buildings,
the Classroom Building and the Gymnasium. Examples of
preservation include soaring ceiling heights, original
hardwood floors, authentic classroom doors and transoms,
grand stairwells, and true slate chalkboards, as well as,
the genuine floor and bleachers of the Gym Building. A new
apartment building was added during the Bass Lofts
restoration giving the property a variety of loft
residences. The new building satisfies the desire for
contemporary design, offering clean-lined, loft apartments,
often with a mezzanine, and gleaming sealed concrete floors.
Mixing the esthetics of yesterday and today, Bass Lofts has
pioneered the loft movement Atlanta has come to know today.
Located east of downtown
Atlanta, Bass Lofts features 85 units in the old school and
auditorium, 18 units in the converted gymnasium building,
and 30 units in the newly constructed building. |
